Initial assessments typically take 1 hour. Follow up treatments can be between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the treatment plan.

Wearing clothing that allows us to see the area that we are assessing and treating is very helpful – for example, if we are assessing your knee, shorts are a good choice; for a shoulder, a tank top or a short-sleeved shirt with loose sleeves works well; for a lower back, loose or stretchy pants/shorts are great. Depending on the treatment plan, you may be asked to do stretches and exercises, so clothes that you can move freely in are better. Certain treatments may get your clothing damp or get water based ultrasound gel on them.

We do not allow outdoor shoes in our treatment area. If you are uncomfortable walking around on a vinyl floor, please bring indoor shoes for yourself. Running shoes are not required for treatments; however, if we are assessing your running, indoor running shoes can be helpful to use on the treadmill.

This depends on your individual situation and treatment plan. Most acute, uncomplicated issues can be resolved in 3-6 visits. This can change depending on the complexity, severity and chronicity of the issue. To start with, most patients are asked to attend at least once per week and up to 3 times per week – again depending on the treatment plan, severity, complexity and how acute or chronic the issue is.

Yes. We are here to provide you with the service you want and need. Some people access physiotherapy on a preventative basis: for example, for targeted strengthening to complement their running training. Others access physiotherapy on a maintenance basis for previous injuries. If you have any questions about whether physiotherapy is right for your goals, please Contact us.

the answer for this one is “it depends.” While physiotherapy can definitely help to alleviate acute pain, the appropriateness of a treatment or assessment should be determined on a case by case basis. Please Contact us to discuss your individual situation and whether an assessment would be appropriate for you at this time.

It is normal to experience soreness after physiotherapy treatment. While the ultimate goal is for less pain and increased function, working on problem areas can be initially aggravating prior to seeing these improvements. It is okay to attend your next treatment if you are still feeling sore

You need your WSBC claim number, your personal health number and your date of injury. Your first visit will be covered with these pieces of information. After your assessment, your physiotherapist will submit assessment report and WorkSafe BC will determine whether a treatment block will be approved (6 weeks or 15 visits – whichever comes first). For your treatment block to be approved – WorkSafe BC will also need your employer report, your doctor’s report and you will need to have contacted them yourself.

You will need your ICBC claim number, your personal health number and your date of accident. All individuals with a valid ICBC claim number are entitled to 25 visits within 12 weeks of their date of accident.
